
Seminar Description
This two-part seminar provides the information necessary to navigate the requirements of NFPA 13. It will also explore the characteristics that define different types of fire sprinklers and their application to protect specific fire challenges. The seminar will conclude with discussions of various new fire challenges and how fire sprinklers are being applied to provide protection. (All courses are in English).

Training by James D. Lake, Director of Training for IFSA.
James has over 40 years in the fire protection industry including code enforcement, standards development, advocacy, and training. He currently serves as the Director of Training for the International Fire Suppression Alliance (IFSA). He recently served as Vice President of Training at the Viking Corporation, as well as Vice President of Training for the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA). He has served as staff liaison and as committee member on numerous NFPA committees that developed standards like NFPA 13 and 25.

Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss and describe the organization of NFPA 13 and its general requirements
- Accurately identify occupancy hazard classifications and storage commodities
- Identify and explain the requirements for sprinkler system components
- Identify the different types of sprinkler systems and their operation.
- Describe how the installation requirements differ for different sprinklers.
- Identify the design requirements and variations for protecting a stored commodity.
- Identify the design requirements and variations for protecting various occupancies.
